Inclusive Interaction Lab Rules

All members of the Inclusive Interaction Lab must abide by the following rules.

Lab Space

  1. Respect the workspace. Keep it clean and be considerate and respectful of others using the space.
  2. Respect each other's workstation and privacy. Do not move, remove, or borrow items from other's workstation without the occupant's consent, regardless of whether he/she is using the items or not.
  3. Do not allow access to personnel not affiliated with lab (including university staff and other personnel) to the lab space, lab equipment, documents, or other items without permission. Inform the lab director ahead of time if you want to give a tour of the lab or demo a project to your friends, family, colleagues, peers, or the press.

Lab Materials

  1. Be careful in handing lab equipment and material. Take care of them. Inform the lab director immediately of any damage to lab equipment or other items.
  2. Do not take lab equipment or other items outside the lab without permission. If you must borrow an item for your project then inform the lab director and complete the Equipment Borrow & Return Form.
  3. Return the borrowed item in the condition in which it was received by placing it in the designated areas. Then, complete the Equipment Borrow & Return Form for the item.
  4. Do not share Slack discussions with people outside the lab. Do not share the details or information provided on a private Slack channel with lab members who are not in that channel.

Lab Projects

  1. Keep all lab projects and research discussions confidential until the results are disseminated (published). Do not discuss the details about your project or share source code, documents, and user study data or results without the lab director's permission.
  2. You are allowed to briefly describe unpublished projects in your resume (~50 words) and job or admission interviews. If the interviewer asks for details "I am not at liberty to discuss the details" is an acceptable reponse.
  3. You are encouraged to distribute and publicize published research findings by sharing links to publications, presentations, and demonstration videos, writing blogs, posting on social media, giving interviews to newspaper, etc.
